Tyskie Browary Książęce opened for visitors
Tyskie Browary Książęce invites everyone to visit the renewed Visitor Centre. The brewery with nearly four centuries of history has been brewing beer uninterruptedly since 1629. What makes this place unique is the history of many generations of brewers who worked and lived on the brewery premises, constituting its integral part.
Tyskie Browary Książęce is an important part of the history of Silesia, and a site of the Industrial Monuments Route and the European Industrial Heritage Route. Still until today, it is visible that it used to be a village. It had its own streets, pedestrian and car traffic, and the buildings had specific functions. The tour route leads through the old brewhouse from 1915 with copper vats and interior adorned with a white and blue maiolica, Brewer’s House, Bachelor’s House, neo-Baroque Müller’s Villa, old cooperage, wood tar factory and familioks, i.e. multi-family houses. Withing the brewery premises, one could find everything necessary to brew and distribute beer. It’s where people worked and lived, prayed in the chapel, and entertained in the casino, creating a brewing community with multigenerational history. The buildings and images of former brewers on the murals created by Poland’s leading muralist Artur Wabik are the testimony to the incredible bond between the local community and the brewery.
– We are glad to open the gates of our brewery to visitors after a break, offering unique experiences in a place where history and tradition meet modernity, and where the lives of many generations of the local community were centred around brewing beer. The guests visiting the historic walls of our brewery can count on local beer stories from the last 400 years, a doze of expert knowledge, new exhibits, multimedia and sensory experiences at the Beer Laboratory and the Brewing Art Centre. The tour itinerary culminates in the Pod Browarem pub, full of retrospections, with a tasting of the perfectly served exclusive Tyskie Gronie from the Brewery, which is brewed a few meters above the venue, and only available here. Tyskie Browary Książęce will charm and delight all beer and history lovers – Natalia Rostkowska, External Communications Manager at Kompania Piwowarska.
The visitors will explore the history of Tyskie Browary Książęce, different stages of the brewing process for the world’s oldest alcoholic beverage, sensory profiles of the Tyskie and Książęce beers, some beer styles and the rules of beer culture. Here, theoretic knowledge intertwines with sensory experiences – the Beer Laboratory awaits with beer artefacts and the best types of raw materials. The goal of this place is to allow the guests to literally touch the brewing craft.
Tyskie Browary Książęce stands for four centuries of history and uninterrupted brewing heritage since 1629. For nearly 400 years, the family of brewers from Tychy has been sharing their knowledge and the secrets of their profession from one generation to the next. On the murals presenting the images of the previous generations of brewers from Tychy, our current employees recognized their loved ones. We feel the history of this place and the bond with it on a daily basis. We want to introduce the visitors exploring our brewery to its unique atmosphere and the art of brewing. Here, form natural ingredients – water, malt, hops and yeast – we brew traditional lagers, the Książęce specialty collection and Tyskie Gronie, which was born in 1987 and is now served fresh straight from the brewery in the Pod Browarem pub. The fifth ingredient of the beers brewed at Tyskie Browary Książęce are people, whole generations of them with incredible passion for beer – Leszek Popiołek, creator of beer recipes, brewer, technical process engineer at Kompania Piwowarska.
The tour culminates in the Pod Browarem pub, where served beers can be accompanied by snacks that emphasize their taste and character. The facility also houses a store with glassware, accessories and decorative items with Tyskie branding.
The Visitor Centre is open for guests from Tuesday to Sunday between 12 PM and 6 PM. Tickets are available at: www.browarytyskie.pl
Both the Visitor Centre and the Pod Browarem pub are run by a local company – “U Przewoźnika”, successfully operating on the market in Tychy for over 30 years.
