Kompania Piwowarska in the 19th “Responsible Business in Poland 2020. Good Practices” report Kompania Piwowarska in the 19th “Responsible Business in Poland 2020. Good Practices” report

Kompania Piwowarska in the 19th “Responsible Business in Poland 2020. Good Practices” report

The report by the Responsible Business Forum is the biggest review of the best CSR practices in Poland. Even though the 19th edition was created over the challenging times marked by the pandemic, when companies had to face numerous problems, the total number of practices submitted by 225 ventures amounted to nearly two thousand – which constitutes a double record in the history of the publication. Out of the activities presented by Kompania Piwowarska, the jury recognized those regarding environmental and employment protection, consumer education and social economy as well as some new practices aimed at helping the healthcare sector during the pandemic.

The 19th edition of the review of the best CSR practices applied by companies in 2020 was created in the unique times when Poland was facing the coronavirus pandemic, yet it still recorded an over 40% increase of activities submitted for the first time. The report would not be complete without good practices regarding activities aimed at supporting local communities and the healthcare sector. Among two thousand submitted examples from many different areas of CSR, five practices applied by Kompania Piwowarska were recognized, including its charity activities in the COVID-19 times, the main beneficiary of which was the health service.

Kompania Piwowarska has always been strongly involved in supporting the communities it operates within, both locally and nationally. In 2020, two times, it provided financial support for the hospitals in Poznań, Białystok and in Silesia, where its breweries are located – thanks to that the facilities were able to purchase whatever they needed most. The company also donated money for the WOŚP Coronavirus Relief Fund.

The Responsible Business Forum’s new report also recognizes the support provided for social economy entities. Kompania Piwowarska has been ordering some of its promotional materials at those kind of companies for years. In 2020, the group of its suppliers was joined by TAKA MYDLARNIA – an agency activating disabled people, from which Kompania Piwowarska ordered holiday gifts. In 2020, the beer producer also launched a comprehensive wellbeing employee programme, executed under the “How are you?” name, the goal of which is to take care of physical and mental health of its employees.

Another practice that has been distinguished is the educational campaign promoting environmental protection, “Stay in Circulation”, aimed at changing the way returning bottles is perceived, so it becomes trendy and worth following. Last year, the leader of the beer industry in Poland once again reminded everyone not to drink and drive with the use of a campaign featuring cartoon characters created by Andrzej Milewski, known as Andrzej Rysuje.

Corporate Social Responsibility is an integral part of Kompania Piwowarska’s strategy. Our company has spent years executing numerous activities aimed at protecting the environment and local communities on a daily basis. Besides carrying out planned projects, we react to the current situation, just as we did in the light of the COVID-19 crisis, by supporting the public health sector. We continue to execute educational activities in the area of ecology, also internally, as well as campaigns promoting responsible consumption of alcohol – says Grzegorz Adamski, Public Affairs and Sustainable Development Manager at Kompania Piwowarska.

The Responsible Business in Poland. Good Practices” report is the most important cyclical publication by the Responsible Business Forum, which has been released since 2002. It contains the best activities of companies which submitted their CRS practices and sums up the most important issues regarding responsible business in Poland in a particular year.
