Over 110,000 cans collected for recycling and more than 14,500 festivalgoers engaged in educational activities concerning conscious alcohol consumption – this is the final balance of this year’s activations by Kompania Piwowarska during OFF Festival, Audioriver, and Pol’and’Rock Festival. The Lech and Tyskie brands once again leveraged their festival presence to complement the event experience by actively promoting conscious consumer choices and responsible packaging habits.
This year’s activities executed by Kompania Piwowarska at festivals focused on two areas: supporting moderate and conscious alcohol consumption, and education about the proper return and recycling of aluminium beverage cans. The most extensive activations was implemented during OFF Festival and Audioriver with the Lech brand, and during Pol’and’Rock Festival with the Tyskie brand.
In total, the company’s activities related to responsible consumption and safe fun reached over 14,500 festival participants. They encompassed both educational communication and the opportunity to check breath alcohol levels. At OFF Festival and Audioriver, participants could use, among other features, Breathalyser Booths equipped with breathalysers, as well as NoLo Quiet Zones. Meanwhile, during Pol’and’Rock Festival, breathalysers were available in the “Check Your BAC” zones of the Tyskie Zero brand, and the main zone additionally featured a reflex tester, alcogoggles, and other educational activations.
– Festivals give us an opportunity to talk about responsible alcohol consumption right when and where these topics have a very practical dimension. We care not only about speaking of moderation, but above all about providing participants with concrete tools that help them make conscious decisions. This year’s result shows that festivalgoers genuinely welcome such solutions – says Małgorzata Walędzińska-Półtorak, Sustainable Development Program Manager at Kompania Piwowarska.
The second pillar of activities comprised pro-environmental initiatives carried out in cooperation with the Every Can Counts initiative. Across the three festivals, a total of over 110,000 aluminium cans were collected and sent for recycling. This was made possible thanks to cooperation with the deposit refund operator – Polski System Kaucyjny S.A. During the summer festivals, participants could use reverse vending machines accepting empty, uncrushed cans and learn how to handle packaging properly so it can return to the circular economy. Every Can Counts ambassadors also explained the rules of the deposit refund system and reminded participants why returning aluminium packaging is worthwhile. Aluminium can be recycled indefinitely, and using recycled raw material allows energy consumption to be reduced by up to 95% compared to the production of primary aluminium.
– Over 110,000 cans collected across three events shows the immense potential of activities conducted right where consumers actually use packaging. Festivals are a great place to demonstrate in practice that returning a can can be simple and convenient, and that the packaging itself does not become waste, but a valuable raw material that can return to the loop – explains Paweł Wiśnioch, Coordinator of the Every Can Counts initiative run by the RECAL Foundation.
For Kompania Piwowarska, these festival activations form an integral part of its broader commitment to responsible business practice. The brand presence at music events goes beyond delivering great experiences; it creates a platform to promote moderation, drive the NoLo category, and champion circular packaging solutions.
– We want to leverage the scale of our brands’ presence at festivals to also promote behaviours that matter beyond the event itself. This year’s results – both reaching 14,500 people with responsible drinking initiatives and diverting over 110,000 cans from landfills to recycling – show that such activations can deliver tangible impact. Our overarching goal is to create added value – for people, organizers, and the planet – so that festival experiences are not only full of fun, but also responsible and sustainable – adds Małgorzata Walędzińska-Półtorak.
This year’s activations were a continuation of activities conducted by Kompania Piwowarska during summer festivals in previous seasons. The company consistently combines its brands’ presence at music events with initiatives that support responsible consumer choices and the circular economy for packaging. The pro-environmental activities were carried out jointly with the REKOPOL packaging recovery organisation, the RECAL Foundation, and Polski System Kaucyjny S.A. as part of the Every Can Counts initiative.
