Kompania of Volunteers in pursuit of a clean environment

17.07.2017

This year’s regional meetings of KP’s sales forces resulted in further volunteering projects. Thanks to the engagement of the numerous members of Kompania of Volunteers, local communities can enjoy cleaner air and new cycling infrastructure.

Despite a busy schedule and quite unfavourable weather, this year’s meetings of our sales forces in Słupsk and Czarna Góra once again made sure to support local residents. Both projects were executed in agreement with local authorities and even though the towns are located many kilometres apart, the needs they identified have a common denominator – willingness to live in a clean environment. Thanks to Kompania of Volunteers, numerous houses in Słupsk received air-purifying plants, while Czarna Góra can now enjoy new bike parking racks.

– Supporting local communities is an activity we always engage in with great enthusiasm, and these two projects were especially close to our hearts, because they fit perfectly in our campaigns and programmes. Clean environment is one of the five shared imperatives we have been executing within our CSR strategy, and we have been promoting cycling within our employee programme “Bet on Exercise” – says Katarzyna Radecka, CSR and corporate volunteering specialist at Kompania Piwowarska– As you can see in many areas of Poland, people feel the need to live healthy, stay active and breath a clean air.

The area of Czarna Góra, which welcomed a several hundred representatives of the South Region, encompasses beautiful trails perfect for cycling trips, but there were no bike racks. That’s how we came up with the idea to purchase and install 15 racks that would serve both the residents and tourists. Driven by a competitive spirit and fun atmosphere, our team of volunteers explored the area to then quickly install the racks. The April weather thwarted the plans of KP’s employees, as they were not able to complete the job instantly due to 70 cm of snow. Fortunately, local authorities came to the rescue and promised to install the racks as soon as the snow melts. Today, they are already available for use to all cyclists.

Słupsk welcomed our sales forces after a 1.5-year break and this time around our employees helped nourish the ecological side of the city, as it strives to become a next-generation city and with that in mind called April “the month of Earth”. The agenda for that month already included numerous educational and eco-friendly events and KP’s initiative turned out to be the cherry on top. Within the campaign organized in front of the city hall, our Kompania of Volunteers handed out pot plants with purifying and humidifying properties. Two thousand seedlings of ivy prepared for the residents of Słupsk went like hot cakes.
