“Let’s Meet Over A Beer” – Kompania Piwowarska encourages to read its latest CSR report

26.09.2017

Kompania Piwowarska’s ninth sustainable development report constitutes yet another step the company takes towards perfection within the scope of water conservation and business and community development, as well as an attempt to strengthen its results in the field of maintaining clean world and responsible consumption. KP shares these and other findings in a casual pub atmosphere with the use of the publication titled “Let’s Meet Over A Beer”.

Kompania Piwowarska released its first CSR report in 2009. Since then, KP has been annually publishing information about the progress in execution of its sustainable development strategy, which for three years now has been functioning under the name “Bet on Beer” and encompassing five areas: Thriving world, Sociable world, Resilient world, Clean world, Productive world.

– This time we invite the readers to meet over a beer so we can explain how we support the development of our employees and business partners, take good care of people and our environment, promote responsible and moderate consumption of alcohol, and passionately engage in volunteering – says Katarzyna Radecka, Sustainable Development Manager at Kompania Piwowarska.

Form the very beginning it’s pretty clear what KP is most proud of – its achievements in terms of water conservation. At the moment, Kompania Piwowarska can proudly announce that it needs only 2.68 hl of water to brew 1 hl of beer. Another of its successes is the engagement in corporate volunteering – last year, 2310 volunteers took part in different aid projects. And there’s one perfect example that fully explain the scale of this phenomenon. In 2016, the Noble Box campaign went down in the history of Kompania Piwowarska as the biggest volunteering project considering the number of people involved, delivered packages and people in need who received help. The organizer of the campaign, the WIOSNA Association, also confirms that the result of Kompania of Volunteers were record-breaking. And finally responsible consumption of alcohol: it is estimated that the number of adults involved in programmes promoting the attitude amounts to 1.5 m.

Kompania Piwowarska can also be happy about the execution level of its five shared imperatives. When it comes to water conservation (Resilient world) and business and community development (Thriving world), the company improved its last year’s results, almost reaching the best practice status (3.5/5 and 3.55/5 respectively). KP strengthened its position in terms of clean environment (Clean world) and responsible consumption (Sociable world), while it had already mastered the second category last year and now maintains its leadership. (5/5)

For the first time ever, this year’s CSR report mentions the UN Sustainable Development Goals, which define the biggest challenges of our times. KP includes most of the 17 global goals in its “Bet on Beer” strategy and thus contributes to execution of the objectives of the United Nations to be reached by 2030.

– No matter what ownership structures we operate within, we are consistently executing our sustainable development strategy. We will, of course, verify it in the nearest future to adjust it to the goals of Asahi Group, which has been enjoying a strong position among the leaders of responsible business for years. However, for companies such as Kompania Piwowarska, actively engaged in execution of the sustainable development policy, some goals remain the same – sums up Andrew Highcock, President of Kompania Piwowarska’s Management Board.
