#SustainHack – Kompania Piwowarska encourages to hack in the name of sustainable development

28.02.2018

How can salespeople effectively refuse to sell alcohol to minors? How to convince women and their families that alcohol consumption during pregnancy can be harmful? How to help drivers check their sobriety? Kompania Piwowarska attempts to answer these and other questions within its CSR activity. Now, the company invites internet users to join the initiative with the use of #SustainHack, the Idea Challenge competition organized by the Responsible Business Forum (RBF) and the ChallengeRocket.com platform. The winners will get money prizes and the possibility to help the company execute these projects.

Important issues require extraordinary methods and solutions. For that reason Kompania Piwowarska, as one of only two companies in Poland – next to BGŻ BNP Paribas Bank – became the partner of a special challenge organized by the RBF at ChallengeRocket.com. #SustainHack is an innovative competition that redefines the word “hack”, giving it a positive meaning. Taking place online, it’s aimed at creative communities and not limited by location.

Trendsetters, seekers of bold concepts
KP hopes that Poland’s first hackathon (programming marathon) for sustainable development will provide answers to the following questions: How can adults influence minors? How can salespeople be more effective in refusing to sell alcohol to minors? How to convince women and their families that alcohol consumption during pregnancy is harmful? How to help drivers check their sobriety? How can you protect your loved ones? These topics fit in one of our five shared imperatives within our CSR campaign “Bet on Beer” – “Sociable World”, which in turn belongs to the 3rd UN Sustainable Development Goal: ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.

– We want to execute this goal by reducing the phenomenon of irresponsible alcohol consumption. To be able to do that, we need a durable change of social attitudes and constant promotion of responsible consumption – says Grzegorz Adamski, Public Affairs Manager at Kompania Piwowarska. – Obviously, it’s happening all the time thanks to our various initiatives, such as the “Check Your BAL” programme. However, we still need new ideas to reach the widest audience possible. Proposals submitted by beer consumers as a result of innovative, bold and out-of-the-box thinking can be as precious as gold for us.

Winning #SustainHack guarantees more than just satisfaction from finding solutions for important social issues and contributing to the improvement of quality of life. It also brings tangible benefits – a money prize of PLN 10,000 and possibility to cooperate with Kompania Piwowarska within the development and execution of proposed ideas.

The competition is open to individuals and 5-person teams. All proposals in the form of PowerPoint presentations, animations, documents or photos should be submitted by April 5, 2018. They will be evaluated by a jury composed of employees of companies responsible for strategic operations. They will consider the attractiveness of ideas, their development potential, usefulness and ability to reach a wide audience. The winners of Poland’s first #SustainHack will be announced on April 12 at the PGE National Stadium during the 7th edition of the CSR Fair.
