Pilsner’s First Tankovna Open in Gdańsk!

On 29 November 2019, on the northern tip of Wyspa Spichrzów island, right in the very heart of Gdańsk, Pilsner Urquell opened its Tankovna Riverside by Pilsner pub. This is the first establishment in Pomerania where one can enjoy the golden, unpasteurized Pilsner straight from the tank, delivered from the Czech within only 48 hours.

Pilsner Urquell is a beer brand that has been entertaining the palates of beer drinkers around the world since 1842. The icon of Czech beer, brewed exclusively from local ingredients, is now within reach of the residents of Gdańsk. Anyone who wants to discover the taste of the cult, unpasteurized Pilsner can do so in the newly opened Tankovna Riverside by Pilsner.

Tankovna Riverside in the center of Gdańsk is the 9th pub of this kind opened in Poland.
In Tankovnas, created by Pilsner Urquell, you can drink fresh beer straight from the tank, which is delivered straight from the Czech Republic to the pub in only 48 hours to preserve the unique freshness of the golden drink. However, Tankovnas are famous not only for their unpasteurized Pilsner, but also for perfection in its serving ensured by tapsters. These professional bartenders trained in Plzen are second to none in serving Pilsner Urquell in 3 Czech ways: Hladinka, Mlíko and Šnyt. Each of these serving styles lets you discover a different side of the golden beverage. Mlíko is the most delicate variant of Pilsner, with a very low level of carbonation, sweet and thick head. On the other hand, in Šnyt 2/3rds of the beer mug is filled with beer, which highlights its refreshing qualities. Finally, Hladinka will be the favorite for those who love a creamy head and refined bitterness, so typical for Pilsner.

True beer experts took part in the event, including Sławomir Fridel, tapster, who told the guests about the importance of perfect serving of Pilsner and made a presentation on how to serve it in truly Czech style. Kamil Ruzek, a Czech brewmaster, elaborated on the concept of Tankovnas and selected, interesting Czech rituals, while Maciej Chołdrych, a beer expert, focused on the sensory values of Pilsner Urquell. All event guests, together with the pub staff, owners, and Kompania Piwowarska representatives, took part in the traditional “baptizing” of the tap from which the “father” of all lagers, fresh Pilsner Urquell, will be poured on a daily basis.
