Kompania Piwowarska with the CSR Golden Leaf and in the diamond nine of
the Responsible Companies Ranking

16.05.2017

The 11th Responsible Companies Ranking brought significant success to Kompania Piwowarska – the company went five positions up compared to last year and once again received the highest distinction awarded by the “Polityka” weekly – CSR Golden Leaf.

High positions in the above-mentioned rankings constitute a proof of Kompania Piwowarska’s strong, consistent and long-term engagement in the field of CSR. Especially, since KP has been enjoying a spot among the most socially responsible companies for years.

– Last year, we were honoured with the Company of All Times tile for collecting the highest number of points across all the previous editions of the Responsible Companies Ranking as well as the CSR Super Golden Leaf – a special distinction for companies that have received five consecutive Golden Leaves by Polityka – reminds Katarzyna Radecka, Sustainable Development Specialist at Kompania Piwowarska. – It’s a great responsibility, therefore we simply could not miss the current rankings.

The diamond nine…

The format of this year’s 11th Responsible Companies Ranking was different from the previous editions: instead of the top cross-industry ten and winners of particular economy sectors, all companies were divided into three advancement levels. Kompania Piwowarska took fifth place at the highest diamond level, which includes nine companies in total – leaders of perfection taking up the most important challenges in terms of responsible innovations. The platinum level encompasses three advanced companies implementing the rules of sustainable development. All crystal level companies are mature and active in the field of CSR, however they still work on improving their stakeholder relations.

The Responsible Companies Ranking is the only list of Polish companies evaluated in terms of corporate social responsibility management, published by the “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna” daily. Since 2007, the ranking has been prepared by profesor Bolesław Rok, director of the Business Ethics and Social Innovation Centre at the Kozminski University (the substantive side of the ranking) and Jarosław Horodecki (data analysis and preparation of the final ranking). The partner of the Responsible Companies Ranking is the Responsible Business Forum, while the final version is verified by the Deloitte consulting agency.

…and the Golden Leaf

Over six editions of Polityka’s Leaves, Kompania Piwowarska has never left the top of the ranking, which is reserved for a group of companies with golden distinctions. Moreover, this year, it was the only representative of the food industry in the elite group. This success confirms that implementation of guidelines included in the ISO 26000 standard is a key element of KP’s business strategy and stakeholder relations, including employee relations, and that the company focuses its activity on the best local and global practices, while simultaneously applying international standards.

Organised by the Polityka weekly in cooperation with Deloitte, the review enjoys growing popularity – this year, it saw 111 submissions from companies representing different sectors, inlcuding the financial, food or energy and heating industry. 13 out of them were awarded POLITYKA’S CSR Golden Leaf; another 13 were awarded the Silver Leaf for implementation of all solutions included in the ISO 26000 standard. POLITYKA’S White Leaf was awarded to 38 companies, who declare to implement all the most important management categories recommended by the ISO 26000 standard and keep improving their activity within that scope.

The participants of this year’s edition were evaluated in seven key areas of responsibility: corporate order, human rights, behaviour towards employees, environmental protection, acting in the best interest of clients, business honesty and social engagement. Additionally, they were asked to answer some questions related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and share good practices within that scope. In total, 56 companies submitted 86 projects, while the jury awarded 10 most interesting ones, basing their opinion on the following criteria: long-term nature of activity, partnership with other entities, contribution to execution of the SDGs and environmental impact.
